Okay. So there are a ton of kids (and adults) who can’t cut a straight line with a pair of scissors. Seriously. Even when you give them a line to follow. I saw it time and again in my kindergarten classroom and even among people who are crafty. In the spirit of helping the scissor challenged, the video below shows you how to cut a piece of paper, any paper, into a perfect square. That’s the basic starting point for so many crafts (and other stuff, like origami). There’s nothing to it, really. Just a few folds. The key, as you’ll see, is to crease the paper firmly, using your fingernails. Then when you start tearing the paper, put your index finger right by the place where the paper is tearing apart. Do this and you can leave the scissors behind.
