Spread the love

Yesterday, I wrote about easy crafts for toddlers. Keeping it simple is truly critical because, well, getting a toddler to sit still can be a near-impossible feat. As anyone who has had a toddler or two or (like me) three, they’re constantly exploring the world around them. That’s a good thing, but sometimes they need some creative downtime. That’s where toddler crafts come in.

As I mentioned, there’s everything from paper crafts to drawing and coloring. There’s one I should have included that I loved for my kids: craft stick puppets. Puppets are fascinating to toddlers. There’s just something about them. Better yet, having your little one create their own puppets is easy–and lots of fun. All you really need are some craft or popsicle sticks, construction paper, safety scissors, markers and glue. Most of the stuff you

likely already have around the house.

Here’s the simple way to make and use the puppets. Help your toddler cut animal shapes out of construction paper. She can draw faces and other details with washable markers. Glue the stick to the back of the shape, let it dry, and she’s ready to put on a puppet show. You can make a bit more fancier puppets by cutting shapes out of foam. Then just glue on a pom pom for the nose, and add some googly eyes with a marker.
